BCP China Volunteers Show Dedication to Disabled Children

A group of volunteers from the Bata Children’s Program (BCP) China visited a home for disabled children earlier this month. They fulfilled their goals of spending time playing with the children and assisting in caring for the home.

The Xinfu Children’s Home in Guangzhou was established in 1996 and currently provides a home to over 190 disabled orphans between the ages of 4 and 14. BCP China is proud to work with a partner providing such an important service.

On Dec. 3, eight BCP volunteers sat down with 20 children at the home for fun, relaxing activities that included coloring and doing puzzles. Next, the volunteers worked alongside social workers to better the children’s environment by cleaning their rooms. They then presented each child a card with good wishes and an inspiring message to encourage them to overcome hardship. Finally, to cap the visit, BCP China made a donation of stationery and schoolbags to the home.

The head of Xinfu, Liu Changqing, commented, “We had a wonderful day because of the BCP volunteers’ visit, which brought love and care. I hope that these children will get more attention, help and love to make their lives beautiful.”
